Pedestrian Hit by Car, Driver Said He Couldn't Stop

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- One person was taken to the hospital late Friday night after being hit by a car near Raines High School.
Authorities told First Coast News a man was standing in the turn lane on Moncrief Road when he darted out in front of a car. The driver said he saw the man, but thought he was waiting to cross the street and when the victim stepped out, he couldn't stop.
The victim was taken to Shands with life threatening injuries.
No charges are being filed in this case.
